Pastor Ray was born in England. In 1983 he moved to Israel and it was here that he started to study for the ministry. He was ordained in 1989 and that same year he met Carolien who was volunteering in Israel. In 1992 they moved to New Zealand and pastored a small church South of Auckland. This church grew over the years and in 2004, sensing that they had completed what God had called them to do, they moved to Hamilton to plant Freedom Christian church.
Pastor Ray has a masters degree in theology from Otago university. He lectures in first testament studies at Alphacrusis New Zealand, the AG national bible school. Pastor Ray co-wrote the 2006 revision of the Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths.
Pastor Carolien is originally from The Netherlands, she came to New Zealand at the age of 14. While travelling the world she met and married pastor Ray. They were married in the Old City of Jerusalem. Carolien has trained to work with autistic and children that have extra needs. In 2003 Carolien was ordained as a minister with the AG. She has worked extensively with youth. She currently speaks around the nation on the subject of child abuse.
Pastor Ray and Carolien have four children, Tamar and Sam are their biological children. Connor came to live with them in 2006 and in 2010 another child joined their household. They are all involved within ministry.
Pastor Derryne is originally from Natal, South Africa. After finishing school she went to Cape Town to study music at the university. It was here she met Paul and they married in 1990.
In 1997 they immigrated to Auckland New Zealand where she served in the Takapuna Assembly of God church worship teams and as the music director for 2 years.
In 2002 they went to Morrinsville where they ministered in Morrinsville AG. Later that year they relocated to Hamilton and helped found Freedom Christian Church.
Derryne was ordained with the AG in 2012 and she is a talented worship leader. She released her first album ‘Joy Rain’ in 2010 and is currently working on a new album. They have three children.
Pastor Rina was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God in 2015.She was the first person saved in Freedom Christian Church. She is a registered nurse and works at the Waikato hospital and she speaks Te Reo.
She is active in pastoral care ,preaches and is in charge of the kids church department. She is a natural evangelist. Rina has a certificate in ministry from Alphacrusis.
Pastor Brett is a probationary pastor working his way through the process of ordination. He is married to Geraldine and they have three adult children and four grandchildren. Brett and Geraldine have looked after many other children over the years.
Pastor Brett has completed his studies with Alphacrusis. He is responsible for discipleship programs and pastoral care among the men of the church. He is a trained butcher and enjoys having people over for meals.
Pastor Ralph and Heather moved to New Zealand in November 2015 to plant Freedom Acts in Te Rapa Hamilton. Ralph is a professional musician and journalist. He is a worship leader and over the past 25 years he has worked in senior leadership roles in local church and in a number of inter-denominational initiatives. He has held regional roles in the Assemblies of God and taught at the AG UK training college.He has written regularly for a number of Christian magazines and publications. He has planted several churches. He also has experience in prison ministry.
Ralph as written two books; ‘No Coincidence’ (2013) and ‘Eternal Flame’ (2015) He holds a MA in Pentecostal and Charismatic studies from Sheffield University. Ralph and Heather have three children, each of whom are involved in ministry.
Heather is married to Ralph and moved to New Zealand in November 2015 to plant Freedom Acts in Te Rapa Hamilton. Heather grew up in the Far-East, the daughter of missionaries. She is a registered nurse and works in post-natal care at the Waikato Hospital. She preaches and with Ralph has extensive experience in Church planting.
